A Traditional Dining Room Set gets a French Country Makeover

How many of these have you seen?
Traditional cherry Queen Anne dining room sets.
Nothing wrong with them.
Some people love them and would NEVER think about changing them.
And then there are some who would…
Like Meredith and Fletcher.
They were ready for a change….
to brighten and "french country" up their dining room.
Here I go!
I started by using a shellac primer to seal and bond to the finish.
I like this one.
Then I removed the chair seats,
and primed the chairs as well.
After drying and a light sanding,
I painted in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint
in Pure White.
Here is the finished set after three coats,
waxing, distress sanding,
and final waxing and buffing.
With the rug back in place.
Amazing how much this opens up the room!
Next stage:
Choosing the fabric to recover the seats.
Which would you choose?
Left: Beautiful crushed velvet in "Ice Blue."
Right: A yummy striped french ticking.
We await your feedback!!!!
