Assembly Line in Duck Egg Blue!

I've been on a Duck Egg Blue kick lately!!!!!
Haven't used that Annie Sloan Chalk Paint color for awhile,
so I pulled it out to work up a little magic on
these thrift store pieces:

A small little wooden HEAVY bookcase......
A round queen anne end table...

And another bookcase/cabinet...
This last piece I did in a two tone with Old White,
and Duck Egg Blue Old White 1/2 & 1/2 mix.
I like using two colors on pieces that have drawers and detail in the doors like this.
I even painted the hardware.
Everything, in typical SheShe fashion,
was distress sanded and waxed.
Here's the little table with it's new paint finish.
I used Duck Egg blue alone for this,

as well as the little bookcase.
 Assembly line for today.
All these pieces are - as of right now - for sale.
Two toned cabinet: $125, small bookcase: $100, table: $85.
Operators are standing by to take your orders!

Repurposing bed slats

Yesterday I wrote about using an old Ikea headboard along with some fencing to make an awesome new turquoise headboard.

Today, I want to show you what else I made from that one old craiglist Ikea bed.
Ikea beds have a double slat system
and the slats are connected with strips of tape stapled to the backs.

First i dry brushed painted the slats with various cool tone paints..........
I cut the strips leaving three connected, then the next three, etc.
and secured them to the backs to hold the slats together.
And then I stenciled on letters:
For this one, I actually printed out the type from my computer.
I rubbed the back of the paper with graphite,
and then traced the letters onto the wood, and then painted them.
Another stenciled with a little boat drawing...
(I think it's pretty obvious this was freehand..)

 Greenwood, Va.  My home town....
I put this one in my booth at
Greenwood Antiques and Uniques.
But THIS one is my favorite!!!!!!!!!
Used an old shoe last and some hooks..........

A Fun Headboard Made from Old Fencing

See what happens? I take a little beach vacation, and bam!
It's 3 weeks before I get back to the blog! Just goes to show:
The more you have to do, the more you do.

Yesterday, I found some pieces of outdoor fencing in the alley.......
I had wanted to do something with this old ikea headboard...

I remembered a photo I had seen of a sweet little cottagey headboard.
Here it is:
So, I got to work!
First I had to take the fencing apart with a crowbar.
Then I cut down the lengths so they were staggered.
And sort of made my "plan," which looked like this.
So next, I used my jigsaw and made some star cutouts........
This is trickier than you realize because you can't have
the star extend the entire width of any plank,
because the top of the plank will fall off!
Then I started screwing in the planks to the wood headboard frame.
When I'm finished, it looks like this:

Then I sanded all the planks, primed, and painted in Valspar Bay Mist.

And tahdah!
Here's what it looks like all staged to look like a functioning bed.
(It's actually just resting on the side of my kitchen counter
because I can't get it up the steps alone!!!!!!!!!!!!)
HELP!

Crazy Springtime: Orange and Green Parlor Chairs and more...

Crazy springtime.......
I can't keep up!!!!!!!!!
Help!!!!!!
In between family trips and benefit trips and vacation trips
(beach next week...yay!!,)
I'm trying to make a living!
Meanwhile, I just opened a second antique booth....
...in another city.  Am I CRAZY?
Here are a few of my latest furniture rehabs:

This old chunky table base has been living in my garage for two years...
just waiting to be reinvented. I finally pulled it out.

I painted it in a gorgeous deep teal, and dry brushed on a lighter turquoise,
then distressed and waxed.
Love these legs.....now, what to do with the top....
Aha!  I had just done a little thrift store run and remembered
this faux ceiling tile wall art that was still in my car....
it fit perfectly on top of the base!!!!!
I added a piece of glass that I just happened to have, and wow!
Instant table. It's in my living room......
temporarily. yeah, right....
Here's a piece I did for a client in Albemarle County.
This old chicken coop belonged to her sister.

She wanted to repurpose it..I lined the back in beadboard.
I sanded and stained all the wood.  I painted the beadboard,
and then put a stain layer over it as well to age it.
Next, we put it up on its short end.
It becomes a non traditional TV stand.
Plus, all the cords/cables are hidden.
Genius!
Another client purchased this unfinished wood coffee table.
(Yes, that's my beautiful regal kitty atop.)
She wanted it stained or painted but didn't know exactly what to do with it...
So I gave her both! I put a strip of painters tape close to the edge, then painted
the table in ASCP Old Ochre and Versailles....
I added designs that I stenciled  in Graphite.
Then I removed the tape, and applied a stain to everything to age the piece.
And remember these old parlor chairs I purchased last week?
After gluing the frames...
I painted them first in ASCP Arles, and then Antibes Green.
Then I distress sanded and added lots of dark waxes.
I covered the seats in a fun orange, lime and pink tropical print with little monkeys.
The trim came from UFab.  LOVE the trim!
Then I did a matching table.
Here they are at my new booth at Greenwood Antiques and Uniques,
with matching drapes behind.......
Orange and green....
Love them!
Going, going....
