How to paint a clock face tabletop

I've seen this done so often, 

but never attempted it myself.

Until I purchased the perfect little table 

this week on Craigslist.

 Here's what it looked like when I purchased it.

 I started by sanding and painting the top

 in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint in Old Violet.

 After that, I painted a second coat, 

but used Louis Blue this time.

Here are my tools: 

Printed out clockface template, yardstick, carbon paper.

 I pieced together the smaller template and used in the center of the table,

then followed the lines to extend and know where to place the numerals.

 I enlarged and printed out the roman numerals…

And then, using the templates and carbon paper, 

 I traced the numerals all around the tabletop.

 I decided for now to keep the legs of the table in the oak wood, 

so I used French Linen to paint the numerals.

 It will help to pull out the wood tone of the legs 

and unify the piece.

After the paint was dry, 

I used a sanding block to smooth everything out

and distress the edges.

By sanding down the finish,

I "find" the deeper Old Violet color beneath,

which simulates age.

 Next, I waxed with clear and dark waxes,

and then buffed to a lovely sheen.

 Now it has character…

Perfect for a dinette area.

It's 40" across with leaves up, 

28" across with leaves down.

Here's a little 3 shelved piece that I bought at a yard sale…

it's been in my booth for awhile, 

but i can't take the black any longer!

I think I'll paint it red…

Annie Sloan Emperor's Silk.

 Let the transformation begin..

 After two coats, I decided to boost the fun factor.

(I have my friend, Kim, to thank for this inspiration..)

 I stenciled letters in Annie Sloan Country Grey.

Then I distress sanded, and dry brushed with dark stain.

 Wouldn't this be perfect in a little boy's room?
Great baby shower or birthday gift!

Goodwill Laminate TV Stand….Chic MCM Chevron Makeover!!

 What cool chick wouldn't want this as a bedside table??

 But here's how it looked when I found it at
Goodwill.

 I decided to experiment on the doors first…

I used turquoise and white zig-zag adhesive shelf paper.

I wasn't sure I could adhere it without screwing it up…

worked like a charm…so...

 Next I primed the piece with shellac primer..

 I painted the piece in Folk Art Craft Paint in Calypso Sky

 Cut a piece from some random cardboard to fit the back...

 I covered it as well in the shelf paper...

 I also cut a piece for the inside bottom and covered that as well.

 I attached the back piece by nailing it all around the four edges.

 I glued in the bottom piece,

and the doors slip into slots.

I replaced the boring pulls with two floral knobs.

Ultra Prissy Tufted Boudoir Chair Makeover

Been a while since I've posted 

because I've been away taking care of my sick mom. ;(

I came home for a three hour stint today,

 and before heading out again, let me show you my 

latest chair makeover:

 Pink damask tufted chair….

 the back…

There was some wear and tear, 

so it had to be recovered...

 I've had yards and yards of this prissy chintz fabric for ages….

 So…I'm finally using it….

Here we go…

Tufting….

 I experimented with several skirt ideas….

this was a pink gingham dust ruffle I had on hand...

 …and this, a valance….

 …more tailored look...

But after all that, 

I just decided to keep the bottom tight so the fabric

wouldn't interfere with the casters.

 I did add some decorative trims…

to boost that frou-frou factor;)
