Slipcovers and Upholstery: Before & Afters

You haven't SEEN ugly until
you've seen some of these "before" pieces.
Practially anything can be redone! And lots of times, the old stuff
is much better than the new anyway!
So don't throw it out!!!!!
Have SheShe reinvent it!!
 Drap olive chair......
Redone in "Bohemian Swirl."
For the back, I used a hardy linen with buttons down a middle seam.
Crushed velour right out of the 70's........
I painted the frame and recovered everything.....
this Louis XVI sofa lives with me now!
Teenage futon...
Grown up with neutral chenilles and a thrift store daybed frame.
Oops, roommate's dog attacked this.....

SheShe fixed so roommate still has home.
This looks like it used to be in a Captain George or some chain seafood restaurant....
It got a whole new look with painted frame and Schumacher chenille.
More french style armchairs with very tired upholstery.....
 Yummy chenille in traditional colors....
Backs in pleated oatmeal linen.
This was my grandmother's chair, and my mother refinished/covered it back in the 70's.

....definitely improved with a SheShe update.

A couple pedestrian looking french armchairs...
Painted in a distressed pale blue, and recovered in neutral chenille.
Old tiger oak chair with cane back from thrift store....
Brought back to life with a little Howards Restore-a-finish, and some grain sack fabrics.

Vinyl clad arm chairs.......
Painted and recovered in a mix of ticking and Thomas Paul "Skippers."
 Ooooh, these look pretty rough.
Totally transformed with some webbing, paint, and more striped linen and neutral fabrics.
Again, used pleated linen for the backs.
Another set of french chairs that I recovered in french linens.
This little set lives at a B&B on the rivah.

Seagrass chairs with white cushions are not going to work for this client...

 She needed kid friendly fabrics,
so I recovered in this tropical barkcloth...
For a whole new look, she can flip them over....
Brush fringe and brown boxing.....
This old chair was in someone's garage.........I loved the lines...
Beautiful with paint, gold highlights, and linen fabrics..
...Tweed in the back, and nailhead trim.
 Goodwill chair...
Instant makeover - painted legs, and I upholstered with a 12 dollar fuzzy throw.
 Two more ugly chairs....
These always go fast in my antique booths.
 Client wanted to recover this.........
 In toile.....done.
Little victorian parlor chair...
Lost it's tufts but gained LOTS of personality!
 Vintage maple with scratchy fabric......
Painted and recovered in "Flight of Fancy" in fuschia and lime.
 Tired piano bench...
 Perky plump daisy bench.

Wonderful old chairframe with lots of detail....but no back or seat...
Is restored and covered in Schumacher houndstooth...
With another surprise back.
 Tripod chair....hee.......ugly needlepoint looking fabric.....
 Totally reinvented.........sold immediately.......darn it.

This was a client's grandmother's chair so she didn't want to part with it...
Totally fresh with new soft beige chenille.
 Another client's family piece..
Updated with new lines in chenille and white piping.

No before photo on this one, just an ugly wingback chair that I recovered in linen..
French ticking stool and feedsack pillow make this the perfect reading spot!
Whewee, tartan plaid chair...with no seat cushion..
Slipcovered in this great warm suzani print and red piping...
and a flirty little skirt.
 Antique dealer's chair.....
 Painted and recovered to sell.
Old 80's rattan beach furniture....

Squared off all the cushions a
nd slipcovered in washable white duck fabric.

 Another dated chair....
Reinvented with matching ottoman, pillow.
Time to pull up a chair, prop up the feet, and have a spot of tea.
