Ombre style Chest of Drawers Makeover

So remember this little desk I blogged about a while back?
I had covered the drawer fronts in fabric...
and added "sun" knobs that I painted yellow....
Well, the person who purchased it for her daughter
also had this chest of drawers.
Both pieces are going in her daughter's room at college this fall,
so they wanted me to figure out a way for the pieces to work together.
So while they're off at the beach,
this chest of drawers is in my living room,
getting a new look.

This is what it looked like yesterday when my friend, Patty Anne,
stopped by and brushed up against it
and got yellow paint all over her brand new shirt.
Sorry, PA! ;(
(I might have to put up a permanent,
"DANGER: WET PAINT" sign in my living room
soon unless things change....)
Anyway, she was none too impressed
with the way it was looking....
Sometimes, during the process,
a makeover can look worse than better!!!
But can I  fill you in
on a little secret to this transformation stuff?
You just gotta trust in yourself!!!!!!!!!
Have no fear!
After all, it's just paint!
There's more where that came from!!!
I just followed my vision.
Because the wood tone of the dresser
was so different than the desk's,
I knew I wanted to paint all of it.
I decided to paint the body graphite to play off
the oil rubbed bronze hardware I plan to use.
Here's how it's looking after distress sanding and adding dark wax.
Ah, yes, now there's some texture and depth to the piece.
 And COLOR!!!
Next up: the new hardware I found online.
I just love the little Mr. Sun knobs....
 Instead of painting,
I kept these in the oil rubbed bronze finish.
So graphic and punchy....
Ta-dah!
It's all ready for college!
The ombre style treatment picks up
all the warm tones in the fabric,
and the hardware and black base color
tie in beautifully with the fabric background color.

Yep, I think these two are gonna be BEST FRIENDS.

Until the next time....
Adios!
